I believe that the rapid pace of Croce's releases had an affect on him by the time of this album's release. Who wouldn't start to run out of material and inspiration with so little time to regroup? This album stands as my clear third place Croce album. While I flip-flop with which if his first two albums are my favorite, this one is always third out of three. Still, it's Croce, so it's still epic, just not as epic. And, considering his limited time to release albums, I'm very glad that he didn't release on a more normal schedule, because we would be left with less of his music in the world. I Got a Name features a very rare song for Jim - a throwaway song. Salon and Saloon stands as the only regular album release of his that I deleted from my library. It's slow and rambling with unusually weak imagery for Jim's normally brilliant lyrics. Despite this one song, the album still has very strong stats - no surprise with such a talented artist. There's a lack of any 5 star songs unlike his other albums. There's also two 4 star songs in I Got a Name and I'll Have to Say I Love You, eight 3 star songs and the one throwaway. The other two albums feature many more 4 star songs and even a few 5 star songs.

Timeless and true. Downloaded after my wife asked for a divorce (20+ years). I came around to the realizations she wanted, and will thank her every day (even if neglect to mention it to her). Song reminds me there is plenty of time for responsible, but crazy fun for the rest of my life. Helps keep a Hop in my Step! Also it was a great reminder to introduce Jim Croce as an artist to my 17 year old daughter.

Great album from a master of his own genre. I remember seeing him on SNL way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth. He moved me then. He moves me still.

Two of my favorite artists with such soft and relaxing styles have been lost from all our lives! Jimmy Spheeris and Jim Croce have given so much to easy listening rock n roll. Spheeris dies in a motocycle accident(not his fault...), Croce dies in a terrible plane accident. Both men had so much to give to music and were just in their prime...such a waste. Love both of you guys, RIP! I will always listen to your music; till the day I die.

This is the first album I bought with my first earned allowence,so it has always held a special place in heart all these years, whats more, I fell in love with the guitar melodies and the poetry of Jim Croce's lyrics, very profound for a young teenager, at the time.I really liked "I'll have to Say I Love you In A Song" the first time I heard it But the songs "Age" 'Recently" and "Hard Time Every time" are unfogettable classics. thank goodness someone had the smarts to rerelase the original three albums on CD .the compilation or greatest hits formats never quite hit the mark for me
  • The Great Jim Croce!

Such a talent and such a loss. Check out Lover's Cross one of Jim's best songs that many haven't heard.
