Disregarding the “genre” the song is a great dance-like song. It’s a good song to move to , it’s catchy, but a dance song/pop is exactly what it is. There is no resemblance to country anywhere in the song! I disagree with the debate that “it doesn’t matter what Genre it’s labeled if it’s a good song”, well it does matter! This is dance , and if Thomas wants to go that direction that’s fine. I think this would have had much better reviews if it was labeled pop or dance. There are genres for a reason.
  • This is just getting ridiculous

This isn’t country, plain and simple. And that is what matters. This album is getting put under the “country music” genre, yet we’re getting fed pop music. This deserves to be in the pop genre, not country. This isn’t even slightly country. So what if it is a “good” album to some who think it’s good music. Whether or not that is is subjective. But what isn’t subjective is that this isn’t country music. This is the crap that gets passed as country music today that isn’t even remotely country. The bad reviews are because this isn’t country. Put it in the pop genre and see better reviews. But put pop music (like basically all current new “country” music heard on country radio) on the country genre, and you’re going to get a lot of negative reviews. The fact of the matter is that someone looking for rock doesn’t want to turn on rock radio or go on the rock genre on iTunes and get rap music. They are two completely different genres, and the rock fans would be very angry at how their genre is getting overflowed with rap music, that people are calling it rock music when it clearly isn’t. This is what has happened with country music. We’ve found rap (for example Blake Shelton’s Boys ‘Round Here) and pop music (this) being put into the country music genre, getting called COUNTRY MUSIC when it isn’t. And it’s getting played on country music radio. This is ridiculous. It’s not country, and it shouldn’t be called that or played on country radio. It’s long overdue at this point that basically every current mainstream country singer switches to pop music because almost all of them are the antithesis of country music. But the truth is, they probably wouldn’t succeed in pop. But country music fans are blind enough to hear this and pass it off as country, and have the audacity to say they like country and names albums like this as a reason why. It’s not country. Get out of our genre and let us reclaim the genre to what country music actually is. Because this, Marren Morris, Sam Hunt, and many others are not country. Go to pop where you belong. Country isn’t your genre.

Either be pop or be country! Country artists, please stop trying to cater to both crowds; people love you because of your COUNTRY uniqueness. If y’all keep dabbling in country-pop, you will lose what makes country music special. 😔

Ok...you love your wife we get it. Also who freaking cares if it is pop or country it is still a really good album. Just because it is pop doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy it. Team Thomas Rhett!
