They keep making it interesting. Even though it's the same style, both the vocals and instrumentals are different enough to where it feels like you've never heard anything like it.

This is one of DH's best albums yet! It's brutally heavy, and at the same time more sophisticated than some of their earlier works. It feels like a blend of The World Is A Thorn and Outlive, with a bit of True Defiance thrown in for good measure. Overall, 9/10 stars. Note: if I could only choose one of their two albums to have, I might go with Peace, which feels stronger lyrically. But then again, I prefer the slightly softer stuff, so I'm biased. Song by song: 1: Cut to Fit 9/10 Here we have one of the best songs on the album to start us off. I'm a sucker for the more rhythmic guitars in the verses. 2: On My Side 8/10 Love the heavy guitars and drums contrasted with Ryan's softer vocals. 3: Close Enough 8/10 I like the more wailing guitars on this one. 4: Unbound 8/10 By far the heaviest song yet, at least vocally. Feels straight of The World Is A Thorn. 5: Grey Matter 10/10 Softens the sound a bit, but I love the staccato guitars in the verse. 6: The Negative 9/10 I love the chorus on this one. 7: Ash 10/10 I would call this the heaviest song on the album. The song gets even better after the second chorus. 8: No Place For You Here 9/10 Softer than Ash and Unbound, but still heavy. 9: Leave Me Alone 9/10 Softer than most of the album, and a little deeper lyrically. 10: Lesser Gods 10/10 An awesome closing song, with a long intro, which I like.

A little disappointing, but not bad by any means. I really love “On My Side” and “Close Enough”. “Grey Matter”, “Cut to Fit”, and “The Negative” are pretty good to, but the rest is just “meh” compared to Demon Hunter’s other music.

One of the most underrated bands. The Metal/Hard Rock label/style I’m sure limits their audience. Keep on rocking!!!

Demon Hunter bring to us their IX studio album with War and with it comes some of the heaviest songs we have heard. While it is true that the sheer power behind classics like "Turn your back and run", "Ribcage", "This I Know", Etc. cannot be denied War bring an entirely new type of heavy to the table. War is all the good from Storm the Gates of Hell and Outlive blended together perfectly. Songs like "Cut to Fit" remind us why we are fans of DH, it is fast aggressive and has an amazing chorus. Meanwhile "Unbound" and "Ash" give us the same kind of unrelenting furry and heaviness we see in tracks such as "Cross to Bear" and "One Less”. “No Place For You Here” is low and slow giving off a welcome Pantera-esk vibe while “Leave Me Alone” dials back some intensity to allow us to breath while periodic blasting us with super slick and head bang worthy riffs like “Gasoline” on Extremist but better. “Lesser Gods” is a titan and power house of a song a worthy end to such a powerful record. Those of you who have not ordered the deluxe edition miss out on an extra song “Gunfight” which admittedly is not as heavy as it sounds but certainly packs a punch and is a joy to listen to. The only downside is the song “Grey Matter” it is by no means bad but certainly the softest song on the album while incredibly deep in meaning sonically I believe this should have been on Peace instead and “Gunfight” should have taken its place. With that said in my opinion that makes this is unequivocally Demon Hunters best and will stack up interestingly against the much beloved classic albums we hold dear as fans. Every song but one succeeds and hits it’s mark making this Demon Hunters most compelling and heavy album to date.

“War” is an amazing album. I barely like this more than “Peace”. Some of my favorites include “On My Side”, “Unbound”, “The Negative”, and “Lesser Gods”. However, some songs just don’t quite mesh well. Songs such as “Grey Matter” and “Leave Me Alone” stick out and would probably be better on “Peace”. In the end Demon Hunter makes an amazing new addition to their already amazing discography!

Imo, peace was weak asf but this album made it worth it for me, the only song I have a complaint on is close enough, it's a good song, it just sounds too much like ffdp, the rest are very traditional demon hunter songs while also successfully experimenting with other songs. This album is a huge win!!!

I love both this album, War, and its sister album Peace. Demon Hunter continues to evolve and refine their musical style. 5 Stars!
