May not be essential, but get one song!

Okay, totally unneccessary, but "You Still Believe In Me" works very well with the orchestra. Download that one at least.

Those calling Brian a sellout you should chill. The originals weren’t altered and you can still listen to the favorites anytime you want! If you don’t like these remakes, move on! I don’t like everyone of these but in my room I think is great! It sounds better with that fill in from the orchestra, gave it a nice warm sound. This isn’t selling out or horrible, just an alternate thing The Beach Boys tried out.
It really grows on you!

I realize this is not a replacement for the originals and should not be expected to be. At first listen I thought it added an "elevator music" feel to the songs. After a few more plays I realized that on most of the songs it really added a new layer that made the song sound fuller. Especially on Disney Girls- it completely transformed it! It reminded me of the Moody Blues using an orchestra at some live performances to enhance the sound. Think of it as a cover of the original, with original vocals (sounding especially good), and a bigger "wall of sound" to fill out the entire effect. A very worthwile addition to a Beach Boys collection.
Remixed in stereo!

Beach Boys all the way up to '68 released their albums to be heard in mono, and stereo was an after thought released by the record companies. Beatles have already been remixed and remastered in stereo, but for the first time you can hear these classic songs reimagined. In every box set and release so far, I was always bothered by the stereo singles.
This just just goes to show you how good the Beach Boys can sound when properly remixed for modern stereo systems. Amazing clarity, not just for the added orchestra but the fidelity of these recordings are just phenomenal which sounds like they went back to the multitracks. Yes, Brian Wilson and Al Jardine worked on this release.
Royal Philharmonic orchestra are also incredible, but it would be interesting to hear these remixes without the new orchestral sections. Starting in 2017 with the newly remixed "Wild Honey" album originally released in '68, we are starting to see the record company pulling these old tapes out of the closet to get a much needed restoration this iconic band deserves.

A BB fan for decades, this is a welcome new sound. Orchestral accompaniment is lush and beautiful. Awaiting a second album - after all, no SURFER GIRL?
Sometimes this works, but not this music, this on NOT!

Grew up with the Beach Boy loved them and their music. Occasionally the mix of the types of music mixed is great, no way here. If fact this mix takes away from The Beach Boys sound not enhance it. It’s a total distraction, no way I would buy this, sounds horrible. Roy Orbison mix album is an example a good mix to compare. Don’t waste your money with this one.

I listened to the samples. You can’t enhance perfection. If you don’t already own them, buy the originals.

Sounds really good. Love originals and these versions. Adds a little flavor. Well done. Not overbearing, obviously a nice combination of talented musicians.
I like this CD !!!!

I'm reading the reviews but this CD is actually good. You have the soothing strings and the beautiful harmonies of the Beach Boys. A perfect combination. I like this CD alot. 2 thumbs up from me !!
disney girls is really good!

I totally agree with tonytodds review-they kinda upped the lead voice and buried the rest. Disney Girls works great though because the song has many points where you can fill in with music-its one of the latter tunes too. some of its real good, some not so much. I think whern Brian was at his best- no one could touch it- so nobody should try it now. However, there are many under produced songs in their music library that really are better suited for this type of production......
